Introduction to the course

This course will give you the core technical knowledge and practical skills for you to gain the skills needed for Level 3. It will show you how to install electrical systems and equipment.  The theory side of the course will give you a good understanding of electrical science, information technology, health and safety, communications and numeracy. 

After the first year, you should be able to connect and fix electrical accessories, route and fix wiring systems and enclosures within an installation. On completion of the second year, you should be able to fully install wiring systems, fix wiring enclosures and carry out the basic testing for electrical circuits.

What do I need?

You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D-G and a Level 1 qualification at Pass grade in Electrical Systems,. You will attend an interview, pass an initial assessment for maths & English and have a good reference.

How is the course taught?

This qualification will see you be supported in your learning by practical skills development and demonstrations. Classroom activities will be related to the workshop activities to contextualise the topic contents.

How will I be assessed?

You will complete a number of online exams and classroom tests as well as completing a range of practical assessments in the workshops

What does it lead to?

You will progress onto level 3 electrical but ideally an apprenticeship.

What jobs could this lead to?

Electricain, Electrical Engineer, electrical Installations Engineer.
