Introduction to the course
You will be introduced to the essential technical knowledge and practical skills to carry out basic brickwork tasks. You will gain the experience and skills required by employers in the construction industry.
On the Diploma course, along with developing your practical skills you will learn a variety of subjects including:
- Brick bonds
- How to read building drawings
- Technical drawing
- Calculating materials
- Communications in construction
What do I need?
This course is for someone who wants to become a trained bricklayer, working either on a construction site or self-employed.
There are no formal entry requirements. For a place on the course you will need to attend an interview, pass a short online assessment and have a good attendance and punctuality record.
How is the course taught?
This is a very practical course so you will be carrying out brickwork tasks in the workshop. Classroom activities will be interactive to support your skills development in the brick workshop.
How will I be assessed?
Your assessments are carried out in the workshop and in classroom environments. You will need to demonstrate your skills development in brickwork.
What does it lead to?
You can progress onto a Bricklaying Level 2 apprenticeship.
What jobs could this lead to?
Employers will benefit from Learners gaining a broad range of skills relating to the Construction and Brickwork Industry.
