Introduction to the course
You will be introduced to the essential technical knowledge and practical skills to carry out basic carpentry & joinery tasks. You will gain the experience and skills required by employers in the construction industry.
You will study:
- Principles of Building Construction, Information and Communication
- Maintain and use Carpentry and Joinery Hand Tools
- Prepare and use Carpentry and Joinery Portable Power Tools
- Produce Woodworking Joints
- Health, Safety and Welfare in Construction
- Producing Practice Joints
- Frames and Joinery Products
- Using a Selection of Hand and Power Tools
What do I need?
This Carpentry Diploma has been specifically developed for you to develop your skills ready to enter industry as a site carpenter or bench joiner,
You will need to attend an interview and pass a short online assessment.
You will ideally have a good attendance and punctuality record (87%).
How is the course taught?
This is a very practical course so a lot of your time will be carrying out carpentry and joinery tasks in the workshop. Classroom activities will be interactive to support your skills development in the carpentry workshop.
How will I be assessed?
Your assessments are carried out in the workshop and in classroom environments. You will need to demonstrate your skills development in carpentry & joinery.
What does it lead to?
You can progress onto Carpentry and Joinery Level 2.
What jobs could this lead to?
Bench Joiner, Site Carpenter.
