Introduction to Media Production BTEC Level 3 Extended Diploma

The BTEC Level 3 Media Production extended diploma provides you with an opportunity to work independently with external clients on a range of projects.

During this course, you will develop your digital skills further in the following fields:

Film, video and television production

Graphic design

Animation production

Special effects

Digital publishing and page layouts

Photography

Production management

Working with external clients and briefs

Building a professional portfolio

To aid this development, you will use a range of high-quality equipment and software, such as:

Cameras

Tripods

Audio recorders

Green screen

InDesign

Camera Crane

During the BTEC Level 3 Creative Media Production extended diploma, you will use advanced academic skills to critically analyse media products. Using these skills, you will continue to build a professional portfolio ready for your progression into work, an apprenticeship or university.

Unit 5: Working to a Brief in the Creative Media Industries

Unit 6: Critical Approaches to Creative Media Products

Unit 27: Factual Programme Production Techniques for Television

Unit 28: Corporate and Promotional Programme Production

Unit 31: Social Action and Community Media Production

Unit 32: Designing Idents for Television

Unit 33: Stop Motion Animation Production

Unit 36: Interview Techniques for Creative Media Production

What do I need?

To enrol onto the extended Creative Media Production diploma at Level 3, you will need four GCSEs at grades A-C, including English or equivalent Level 2 vocational and literacy qualifications. Relevant work experience will be taken into consideration for adults.

How is the course taught?

The course is taught in a classroom and uses the latest technologies, including Apple Macs, a professional recording studio and digital editing facilities.

How will I be assessed?

Assessment is continuous, by portfolio. There are no exams, assignments or presentations.

What does it lead to?

With this diploma, you will have the opportunity to progress to a university degree, or gain employment in the games industry.

Employer's Benefit

If you employ someone with this qualification, they will possess knowledge of the practical aspects of media production. This includes camerawork, editing, radio production, journalism, interview skills, how to write news and online features, and use industry-standard desktop publishing along with image manipulation packages, having gained practical work skills that are underpinned by theory.
