Introduction to the course

If you are considering a career in health and care and enjoy studying a subject relevant to your own life and experience, this course is for you. The course will also give you the opportunity to improve your literacy, numeracy and ICT skills.

What do I need?

This course is suitable if you wish to work with children. You will study the development and care of children, providing play activities and health and safety. English language and Maths classes will help you to develop your literacy and numeracy skills. To qualify you to work with children in a school, nursery or preschool, you will need to progress to a Level 2 qualification. As part of the course you will complete a passport to work programme that will prepare you for future employment.

How is the course taught?

You will have a mixture of group activities, discussions, lectures and practical activities.

How will I be assessed?

You will have a mixture of group activities, discussions, lectures and practical activities. You will complete a minimum of 60 hours’ work experience.

What does it lead to?

Further study, an apprenticeship, or employment.

Entry Level
