Introduction to the course
If you want to go to university to study an Engineering course but do not have a formal academic qualification, this diploma is the perfect next step. You will study a range of modules, including maths, physics, electronics and ICT.
What do I need?
You must be at least 19 years old with a background in Engineering or Science and motivation to succeed. You will need GCSEs in maths and English at Grade C or above. You will also be required to take an English and maths assessment, and have an interview before enrolling onto the course.
How is the course taught?
You will be taught through group activities, discussion, surveying college buildings, and studying the practical applications of engineering.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is based on a portfolio marked by your teachers and validated by examiners. Some units will involve exams.
What does it lead to?
You could progress to study engineering at degree level.
A student who has gained exceptional study skills, able to apply a practical focus to problem-solving and analysing complex information.
