Hair and Beauty Management Practice and Advanced Techniques (Delete Sector) Diploma Level 4
Introduction to the course
This course is for you if you wish to expand your hairdressing or beauty therapy role into management. This is an academic qualification which includes many research elements as well as advanced practical skills.
You will developed the needs required of the hairdressing and beauty therapy industry and to provide recognition for professionals working within the industry. During the course you will gain management skills which will help you to understand and apply relevant business theories and concepts enhancing your own experience within the sector. There are two pathways available hairdressing and beauty therapy.
Learners will also gain a solid foundation in management skills so that on completion of the course students can progress into a management role.
This is an academic qualification which includes many research elements as well as advanced practical skills.
This BTEC Level 4 HNC provides you with a specialist work-related programme of study that covers the key knowledge, understanding and practical skills required in the hair and beauty sector and also offers particular in depth emphasis through the choice of expert units.
This HNC will improve your business knowledge as well as give you strong, sector-related practical skills alongside the development of knowledge and understanding to enable your career progression.
The course content for the two pathways includes salon management, human resource management plus hairdressing: managing the creation of a hairstyle collection, hair and scalp specialist services.
Beauty Therapy units include: advanced epilation, laser and light treatment for skin rejuvenation, Physiology of aging.
What do I need?
You will be required to purchase a college uniform for your practical units at a cost of approximately £40.
You will need to have achieved Beauty Therapy or Hairdressing at Level 3 or equivalent.
How is the course taught?
The course is taught on one full day a week and two evenings. Days, times and evenings are:
Monday 9am - 5pm
How will I be assessed?
Assessments are criterion-referenced and graded as 'pass, merit or distinction'. A range of assessment methods are used, these will include work-based assignments, case studies, projects, reports, portfolios, reflective assignments, learning journals, practical assessments and presentations.
What does it lead to?
On successful completion of the HNC you could progress to HND or top-up to a degree level course.
You could also start up your own hair and/or beauty salon and gaining the HNC is likely to lead to career development if you are already working in a salon.
You will develop higher level employability skills, such as: The ability to critically analyse, synthesise and summarise information, the ability to read and use appropriate literature with a full and critical understanding, the ability to think independently and solve problems, the ability to apply subject knowledge, the ability to manage themselves, others and practices, the capacity to give a clear and accurate account of a subject.
