Introduction to the course

This qualification is suitable for any one who wishes to gain initial qualifications in Hairdressing and Barbering. This HABIA and City and Guilds designed course will give you the skills you need to progress to the next level or in to work assisting in a salon.

How is the course taught?

You will have the opportunity of practising your skills in a professional salon environment. Learners must set aside time outside of college hours to study including on-going practise of practical skills. Learners must demonstrate at interview their commitment to self-motivated study.

You will also complete a number of hours working in a salon gaining work experience, you will need to find a salon to work in but the college can help you with this.

Tutorial support will help you to progress and develop confidence in improving your own learning and performance whilst on the course. You will be required to assist in the salon reception area and training salons in order to fulfil your assessment criteria.

How will I be assessed?

This is continuous throughout the course in the form of on-line tests, projects, task sheets and practical observations.

What does it lead to?

When you have completed this course satisfactorily, you may progress onto a level 2 hairdressing apprenticeship, employment or full time study.

Employer's Benefit

Employers will have junior stylists with a range of basic skills and the possibility of staff going on to becoming full Level 2 stylists or intermediate apprentices.

Entry Level
