The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

London’s #1 College for Skills

Introduction to the course

Access courses are designed to give adult students the opportunity to enrol on university courses. Our Access to Higher Education Nursing Level 3 course is specifically designed to help adult learners gain access to nursing courses at higher education level. Access courses are particularly beneficial to adults who don't have the qualifications typically required to gain a university spot, such as an A Level or a BTEC.

CONEL's Access to Higher Education Nursing Level 3 courses has been expertly formulated to give students the best start in the nursing career. Students will study a range of nursing topics, including nursing studies, health sciences (including biology), psychology and sociology. Modules designed to help students improve their Maths, English and research skills are also included in the course.

What do I need?

To apply for a spot on our Access to Nursing course, you will need to be aged 19 years or older and have a Grade C or above in both GCSE Maths and GCSE English. Candidates will be expected to attend an interview with a course leader to discuss their suitability for the course. Most importantly, applicants need to have the focus and commitment required to achieve and succeed.

How is the course taught?

The course is taught through a variety of teaching methods, many of which have been tailored towards preparing you for study at University Level. Lessons will take place predominantly in the form of lectures and interactive group seminars where discussions and debates will be encouraged.

How will I be assessed?

You will be assessed throughout your time with us at the college; as well as sitting written examinations to assess your knowledge and understanding of key concepts, you will also be expected to build a portfolio of your assignments and various case studies to present to the examination board.

What does it lead to?

Successful completion of our Access to HE Nursing course could give you the foundation you need to progress to a degree in nursing (whether adult, child, or mental health) or midwifery.
