Introduction to the course
Suitable for learners aged 16 or above who wish to progress to further education or the workplace in Health and Social Care settings including residential settings, health care assistants in the community and primary care, acute health environments/hospitals, supported living or day services and community based support workers. This course has been developed in conjunction with sector experts, employers and Higher Education institutions.
These qualifications promote high quality care and support and have
been mapped to the standards within the Care Certificate and
National Occupational Standards.
- Internally assessed and graded A*- D
- The Certificate is nested within the Extended Diploma and will allow
- The Extended Diploma can usually be completed in one year
- These qualifications are expected to attract funding
- Can be taken as part of a full study programme

What do I need?
GCSE D/3 grade in English.
How is the course taught?
Teaching, research, small group work, workshops, presentations, Guest speakers and Support from the placement officer.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment: Portfolio of evidence
All units within these qualifications are internally graded A* - D. All units have to be passed to achieve this qualification and for progression to level 3.
You will also complete 30 hours in a real work environment placement.
