Caring for a Child Certificate Entry Level
Introduction to the course
This entry level course will give you a good general introduction to working in childcare.
The broad range of units will give you a good understanding of working in childcare. They include pregnancy and the responsible parent, play and learning at home, and caring for young children. You will also have the opportunity to improve your English and ICT skills. If you take the English for Speakers of Other Languages option, you will have a further three hours of ESOL a week. You will complete a work skills programme that will prepare you for future employment.
What do I need?
This course is for adults. You must be able to read and write independently with reasonable spelling, grammar and punctuation skills. You should have Entry Level 2 in speaking and listening, writing and composition. A good reference is required and you will need to attend an interview.
How is the course taught?
Teaching is through a mixture of discussions, practical tasks and group work.
How will I be assessed?
Assessment is through coursework.
What does it lead to?
If you complete satisfactorily and gain Literacy Level 1, you can
apply for a Level 2 childcare course.
