Applied Science BTEC 90 Credit Diploma Level 3
Introduction to the course
If you want to study applied science this course is ideal. The diploma qualification is equivalent to two A Levels. On this practical, work-related course you will gain a broad knowledge base for a range of careers in many areas of science.
You will study units such as:
· Fundamentals of science
· Working in the science industry
· Scientific practical techniques
· Perceptions of science
Then you will choose units specialising in:
· Using mathematical tools in science
· Using statistics in science
· Physiology of human body systems
· Biochemical techniques
· Microbiological techniques
· Biomedical science techniques
· Chemical laboratory techniques
What do I need?
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade A*- C (including science), or a Level 2 BTEC Diploma Merit in Applied Science at pass grade or a related subject.
How is the course taught?
You will be taught through lectures, practical investigations, videos, role-plays and field visits. You will carry out classroom activities that are based on workplace scenarios.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continuously, through classroom presentations, written assignments and practical reports. You will complete projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations that are designed to introduce you to the different science-related career options.
What does it lead to?
You could progress to employment or university to study a wide range of courses.
