Introduction to the course
If you want an introductory basic foundation course in applied science. This will be the best course for you.
This course gives you the knowledge, understanding and skills that will enable you to progress to qualifications in a Science or Technology related area at a higher level.
The Diploma gives a level 1 qualification in Science and Technology.
On this course you will gain foundation knowledge and understanding in Science and Technology.

Waves and Radiation,
The Study of Living Systems,
Electronics in Action,
Concepts and Techniques for Chemistry
Working in Science and Technology,
Carrying out a Science or Technology Project,
Making Useful Scientific Devices,
Using Mathematics Tools in Science and Technology,
Using Equipment to Make Scientific Observations and Measurements, Forensic Detection,
Using ICT in the work place
What do I need?
You will need Entry 3 level in Maths and Entry 3 level in English
How is the course taught?
You will be taught through lectures, practical investigations, videos, role-plays and field visits.
You will carry out classroom activities that are based on workplace scenarios.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed continuously, through classroom presentations, written assignments and practical reports. You will complete projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations, activities to introduce you to the different science related career options.
What does it lead to?
You could progress to level 2 Diploma in Science or Engineering
This course lets you demonstrate to potential employers that you have completed a course of study that would put you in line to progress onto an apprenticeship. Meaning that you would be useful in the workplace whilst able to demonstrate that you can study at college one day a week
