Introduction to the course
This course is for people with learning difficulties and disabilities of all kinds. It is a broad foundation course looking at many aspects of art and art work. Specific areas covered by the course will include: painting from the imagination and drawing using different media pencils and coloured crayons, life drawings, papier-mache; making masks, vases, plates and sculptures. It will also cover collage, using a variety of ripped and cut paper and found scrap materials.
What do I need?
No formal qualifications are needed for entry to this programme. All applicants will be interviewed by a member of the programme team.
How is the course taught?
You will experience a range of teaching styles, including working in small groups and 1:1 tutorial sessions with their Personal Tutor. Each group has an attached Support Worker, who works with the teaching staff to encourage learners to become more independent and develop their own learning skills.
How will I be assessed?
Your progress will be assessed through regular meetings with your Personal Tutor. You will also work towards achieving National accreditation at Entry Level.
What does it lead to?
The aim of this course is to provide you with the chance of broadening your educational horizons with a view to participating more fully in the community and starting on the road to achieving further educational qualifications.
