Introduction to the course
In this practical, work-related course, you will learn by completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations. As well as learning about the travel and tourism industry, you will develop the skills you need to start your career. A range of visits are included. In recent years, learners have travelled abroad to Ireland, Spain, New York, Las Vegas and the Grand Canyon. You will also develop key skills in communication and information technology.
What do I need?
You will need 4 GCSEs at grade D-G or the equivalent Level 1 qualifications at Pass grade, to come to an interview, pass an assessment and have a good reference. If you are coming from school or another College, you will need an 87% attendance record.
How is the course taught?
This is a practical work-related course, where you learn by completing projects and assignments based on realistic workplace situations. Field trips are an essential part of the course – you will visit airports and destinations in the UK and overseas.
How will I be assessed?
You will be assessed through the assignments for each unit, which require individual and small group research.
What does it lead to?
You could progress to a Level 3 course in Travel and Tourism or go directly into employment or other training in the travel and tourism industries.
