Support For Adult Learners (19+)
Support for Adult Learners (19+)
Courses are not free if you are aged 19 or over. If you need help to pay for your course fees or materials, get in touch with our Learner Support Services team. We have funds that can help you towards the cost of your learning.
Discretionary Learner Support Fund
The Discretionary Learner Support Fund can provide eligible learners with help towards the cost of course fees, books, materials, equipment, travel, exam fees and childcare. To find out if you are eligible, please speak to a member of the Learner Support Services team. Access to this fund requires an assessment of household income.
As demand for childcare support is very high and you are advised to apply early. Applications are encouraged prior to enrolment.
If you are enrolled on a paying apprenticeship, you are not eligible to apply to this fund.
19 + Advanced Learning Loans
If you are aged 19-23 and are planning to do a Level 3 or 4 course at The College, you MAY need to apply for a Government Loan to help with costs and fees. This Government loan is called the 19+ Advanced Learning Loan. However if the course you wish to do is your first Level 3 qualification your course could still be free.
If you're starting a course on or after 1 August, you may qualify for a 19+ Advanced Learning Loan. These loans help you to pay the tuition fees charged by colleges and training organisations.
Most learners aged 19 and over, studying at level 3 and above such as Access to Higher Education, up to 4 A-Levels, NVQ Level 3 or NVQ Level 4 Certificate or Diplomas, Advanced Apprenticeships or BTEC National Diplomas, will qualify for these new loans from the UK government (subject to immigration status). It's easy to apply, your household income isn't taken into account and no credit check. You won't have to pay anything back until your income is over £21,000 a year. This loan is only available to students on eligible courses at approved institutions such as the College of Haringey Enfield and North East London. If you have an approved Advanced Learning Loan you may be eligible for a bursary for financial/child care support from the 19+ Advanced Learning Loans Fund.
