This apprenticeship deals with routine administration support within a business or organisation. Administrators handle the day-to-day tasks in an office and make sure things run smoothly – 97% of employers say that effective administration is essential to their business to ensure its smooth running. The term ‘administration’ covers roles that involve organising people and resources, including executive assistants, secretaries, administration assistants, data entry clerks and office juniors. Without them, information would be hard to find, meetings would be missed and businesses would be less productive.

Average Duration: The apprenticeship runs for 12 months

Course Information

The Intermediate Business Administration Apprenticeship is made up of a framework which includes:

  • Business and Administration Level 2 Diploma
  • Maths Functional Skills Level 1
  • English Functional Skills Level 1
  • ICT Functional Skills Level 1
  • Employment Rights and Responsibilities

Progression

Apprentices may progress to full time employment or Advanced Apprenticeships in Business and Administration.

How to apply

You can apply through the college application. Once you have applied to the college, you will be invited for an interview at the college and also with the potential employer.

Assessment

The apprentice is expected to attend college to attain knowledge, training and complete online exams. In addition, they will also be trained by the employer and expected to complete an online e-portfolio.

Entry qualifications

Applicants will be assessed and interviewed to demonstrate that they have the ability to cover the range required by the relevant NVQ at work. In addition, the apprentices are expected to carry out initial assessments in English and Maths where they would be expected to ideally achieve Level 1 in both subject areas. If an apprentice has a GCSE in Maths and English or ICT at A*- C, they don’t need to complete functional skills as a part of the apprenticeships.
