About the Course

What is the difference between an article and a review? Should it be 'Yours sincerely' or 'Yours faithfully'? Is an email always informal? These and many more questions will be answered in this course. In 6 weeks, you will learn how to structure more formal texts; for example, articles, reviews, letters and more. You will learn how to convey your meaning accurately in writing. By the end of the course you will have gained confidence in your writing skills. This could help with your Functional Skills English, work and day-to-day use. It is the right course for you if you have good speaking and listening skills and are studying English at Level 1 or 2. This course will be delivered remotely through Microsoft Teams. You need a PC or laptop and to be able to use Microsoft Word. It is not recommended to join this course using a device with a small screen (smartphone)

What Will I Need?

Please be prepared to provide your residency documents such as a passport, EU citizen ID card, UK Birth Certificate or Biometric Card. If you have been in the UK for less than 3 years or have entered the UK with a visa you will need to provide evidence that you are eligible to study in the UK - your visa, your biometric card that covers the duration of your course or any relevant home office documents to support your residency should all be provided. If you’re an EUEEA or Swiss citizen we will need to see evidence of 'Pre-Settled' or 'Settled-status' documents. Also for funding purposes we would need to see evidence of payslips if working (within the last 3 months). If you are receiving benefits (e.g JSA, ESA, Universal Credit (UC), Housing benefits etc. please provide evidence of this).

What Can I Do After?

Upon successful completion of the course you can progress into further study in this area.
