The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

London’s College for Skills

The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London welcomed over 50 Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy students from the Netherlands this week who came to find out how their course compares to those in the UK.

The Dutch students who attend ROC Friese Poort Collegear, in  Friesland the north of the Netherlands, took part in hair and beauty workshops, and toured the College’s state-of-the-art facilities at the Tottenham Centre.

British and Dutch Hair and Beauty students immediately got on and were soon able to share their experiences and aspirations for the future.

Head of Hairdressing and Beauty Therapy, Jill Riley, led the tours and explained to the students how the College’s commercial salon and the Style Zones operated. She said: “The Dutch students were amazed at the standard of our salons and really enjoyed the workshops.

“Many of our students consider working in other countries when they’re qualified so it’s always good to welcome students from other countries who can give them insight into the industry abroad.”

Barbering student, Michael Theori (pictured), said: “It was interesting to compare how their college operates and just nice to meet new people who have similar interests.”
