Animation comes to life at College's End of Year Show
The Games Design and Animation end of year show is being held today and tomorrow at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London to celebrate the work of Level 3 students.
On show at the Tottenham Centre, the event is open to family, friends and prospective students who can view students’ creations in 2D, 3D and onscreen. The work features visuals and animations, including projects commissioned by companies such as Transport for London (TFL).
Friends, Nicole Moloney (24) and Mine Mahnutoglu (18) who met on the animation course are displaying their work side by side. “I’ve found my calling” says Nicole. “I wasn’t sure what I wanted to do when I left school but I knew I liked computers and I was creative so animation seemed like a good option, and it’s really paid off. I’ve loved every minute of it and will be returning to the College in September to do my HNC Creative and Media*.”
Mine Mahnutoglu, who discovered her pathway in Animation through Connexions, said: “I was studying A levels at school and realised the format just wasn’t right for me. I’m much more suited to a vocational course. I looked for a course in animation and this was the best choice for me. When I started I knew it was right. I was in a room with likeminded people and over the last two years I’ve had a fantastic time. In September I’m enrolling at Hertfordshire University to study Animation. I’m really happy I chose to change direction when I did.”
Vice Principal of Curriculum and Learner Experience, Jane O’Neill, said: “The End of Year Show is really exciting for the College because it highlights the exceptional creative talent of our learners as well as their technical competence and expertise.”
The show runs from 6pm – 9pm tonight (Thursday 31 May) and all day tomorrow (Friday 1 June). Other End of Year Shows are scheduled throughout June. For more information visit: www.conel.ac.uk/shows
