Each category has specialist judges, who take into account the different circumstances of each college, the resources applied and the success in terms of the intended marketing outcome.
They specifically look at:
There is generally a runner up and winner in each award category. Judges however, at their discretion, do occasionally award a 'highly commended' for entries of special merit - which is what the Communications and Marketing team at CONEL were very proud to receive after entering the loop in the 'College Newsletter' category. Judges comments included "Lovely... easy to read with a great use of white space to counteract the text, very professional and beautifully laid out."
"Improving the staff newsletter was an important part of the internal communications strategy," explains Alex Louis, Head of Communications and Marketing. "We wanted to drastically improve the content without increasing the cost. Harry Davies has done a great job on the look of the publication and Jen Summers works very hard on making it an interesting read. So far the response is very positive, but were far from complacent and always looking at improvements."
