College students celebrate their Turkish AS and A2 results
Thrilled College students studying A2 and AS Turkish at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London received their results today (Thursday 18 August).
Sultan Arslan (18), who visited the College early to pick up her AS results, said: “I’m going to Hertfordshire University in September to study Law, but studied for my AS Turkish so I had additional language skills. I’m really proud and want to thank my teacher Cemile as she really helped me. I’m now thinking of going on to study for my Turkish A2.”
The AS Level, which is broadly equivalent to the first half of a full A Level is a standalone qualification. After completing the AS Level students often go on to study the A2 Level which gives them two qualifications, equivalent to a full A Level.
Almost 90% of learners who completed their AS Level received a C grade or above, with almost 50% receiving an A grade. These students are now eligible to progress and study for their A2 Turkish in September 2011 which will lead to them having a full A Level.
Results for this year showed that 90% of College A2 students passed with a Grade C or above and 20% received an A grade.
Jane O’Neill, Vice Principal for Curriculum and Learner Experience, said: “Once again, we are very proud of our learners and their achievements. We teach many languages at the College which all add to the skills of our learners, as well as providing opportunities to go onto higher education.”
