Learners from the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London got to meet representatives from 23 different universities last week, as the College hosted its annual Higher Education Fair (Tuesday, 4 October).

Held at the College’s Tottenham Centre, Learners from the Enfield and Tottenham centres attended to get advice and find suitable universities to apply to before the main UCAS closing date on 15 January 2011.

At the Fair, Learners received information from university representatives about course content, selection procedures and other aspects of the UCAS application process.

Representatives who attended the Fair, included;  Kings College, UCL, Cambridge, Middlesex, Brunel, Westminster, Greenwich, Goldsmiths, Essex, Portsmouth, Birmingham City University,  University of East London and Birkbeck University.

Level 3 Learners, who are studying for a qualification that will qualify them for higher education study, also attended talks delivered by a number of different universities, focused around personal statements and student funding.

Enfield Centre Business student, Saziye Akun, who recently won a College Special Achievement  Award at the launch of the College’s new Learner Hub, said: “I came here today as I knew it would be useful to get an overview of a wide variety of universities in one go, and get a feel for what they offer. “

Vice Principal and Chief Executive, Jane O’Neill, said: “The HE Fair is one of the many events organised by the College Careers Service to support learners applying to university.

“Each year, hundreds of our learners progress on to higher education courses, at universities across the country as well as the ones we offer at the College.”
