The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London will be competing against Colleges from South-East England later this month when students take part in a World Skills event.
The students who are studying either Games Development or Animation Level 3 will take part in the Speed Modelling Competition on 22 November at South Thames College.
The students will have two hours to develop a games element and will be marked on the speed and accuracy of production, use of 2,000 polygons, elegance of design and realisation.
‘Heats’ are currently taking place to decide which six students will represent the College, based on their skills using Maya software or 3D Studio Max.
The competition will be judged by industry practitioners, including Charles Birt, from Colossal Games who has 30 years’ experience in the games industry, Darren White, the Lead Visual Artist on Need for Speed - the top racing game - and Slightly Mad Studios, the multi award winning independent British video game company.
Jane O’Neill, Vice Principal for Curriculum and Learner Experience, said: “This is an amazing opportunity for students to showcase their skills. Not only will they gain from receiving prizes, but also from the exposure in the industry.”
