Shystie nominated for top industry award
After her nomination for Best UK Newcomer at the recent Mobo Awards and just signing with record label, Polydor, MC Shysties career looks set to soar.
The former CONEL student has completed a UK tour last year, worked with the Mercury Award nominees The Streets, aka Mike Skinner, and would love to do a duet with Tottenhams Lemar, the R&B artist from Fame Academy. The 21 year old also has a track on the compilation Maximum Base out at HMV.
With her super-fast unique style of hip-hop and garage, MC Shystie, aka Chanelle Calica, was bound to get noticed.
She has just released an impressive single called Make it easy from her forthcoming album Diamond in the Dirt that shows her unique style of rapping to its best. With a laid-back theme and a sample of Burt Bacharach, her single is set to score high in the charts.
While trying to build up her music career, Shystie studied Sound Engineering and a BTEC National Diploma in Music Technology at CONEL.
A tutor from her course recalls: Chanelle was incredibly talented from the beginning. I think the rest of the group, who were mostly men, were in awe of her. Her rapping and singing is excellent
