Creative and Media students at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London dressed to impress last week when they attended the end of year Oscars Ceremony at Cineworld Cinema in Southbury.
Over 100 students received the red carpet treatment before taking their seats and watching a series of short films each produced and filmed by the students.
All the learners received an award for their achievements, and special awards were given to; Best Film Trailer, Best Advert, Most Improved Learner and Outstanding Commitment to Studies.
Winner of the Outstanding Commitment to Studies award, Jamie Ryan, who is about to complete his Media BTEC Level 3 before progressing onto university to continue his studies, said: “I love everything about films and the industry so it doesn’t seem like hard work. I’m just doing what I love.”
Dressed as a Ghost Buster in homage to his love of film, he added: “Tonight has been amazing. Seeing your work on the big screen has been a great way to end the year.”
Best trailer went to Giuseppe Nkansah, Bruce Niamke and Kenneth Boateng (all pictured) who recreated the Michael Jackson Pepsi advert from the 1980s. Appearing in their matching tuxedos, Kenneth said: “This is the first year of my Level 3 course and already I’ve learnt so much. It was good fun creating the trailer so I’m really happy we won.”
Curriculum Manager for Creative and Media, Cyrus Armstrong-James, said: “The event provided a fantastic opportunity to celebrate their achievements and share their work with friends, family and employers.”
