Come along and find your perfect course
Adult Learners' Week from 15 – 21 May celebrates, promotes and advances all forms of adult learning and is co-ordinated by NIACE, the National Institute of Adult Continuing Education. The College of North East London (CONEL) will be opening its doors, as well as getting out in the community, to offer you the chance to find out what you can do to enrich your life by learning new skills this year:
Saturday 15 May 12.30 to 16.30: The Information Technology ‘Orbit Bus’ will be parked outside Wood Green Central Library giving out CONEL information packs and offering internet taster sessions. Take a tour around the bus and see its cutting edge IT facilities in action!
Monday 17 May 17.00 to 19.00: Creative Connections - the Tottenham Centre reception area will be buzzing when we showcase our media courses. You will also be able to find out more about our brand new state of the art video editing and sound recording suites at nearby ‘Heron House’, available not only to students but also for commercial hire at reasonable prices.
Tuesday 18 May 16.00 to 19.00: Action evening – come and talk to tutors and external professionals about boxing, basketball and football coaching courses offered by CONEL in partnership with local organisations. Did you know, everything you need to learn to set yourself up as a fitness instructor, including health & safety courses, can also be studied at the college? Enter the prize draw during your visit and you may be the lucky winner of some London Towers Basketball tickets!
Wednesday 19 May 12.00 to 18.00: Hairdressing galore – fed up with your hair? Pop in and have a free hair consultation and find out how the ‘Style Zone’ salon at CONEL can make you feel a million dollars. There will also be a chance to see fantasy, evening, every day and bridal hair styling and makeup demonstrations by Level 3 Hairdressing students. Tutors will also be on hand to help you with any questions you may have about our hair and beauty courses.
Thursday 20 May 17.00 to 18.30: A cultural evening with music and food from around the world – and an opportunity to talk to tutors and students about foreign language courses at CONEL. You could soon be speaking the local lingo on holiday after taking one of our Summer Language courses!
Friday 21 May: Information Technology - the Orbit Bus will be visiting Clive Lloyd House, sheltered housing in Tottenham, and offering residents taster courses on this fantastically equipped mobile teaching tool.
So why not take 5 minutes at lunchtime, after work or on your way home from the shops to find out about how you can fit further study into your life. All the events at the college will take place just inside the reception area on Tottenham High Road, just look out for the Adult Learners’ Week balloons on the college gates – we look forward to seeing you soon!
