The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

London’s #1 College for Skills

Kids arent known for their enthusiasm when a trip to the hairdressers is mentioned, but three women have come up with an innovative way to make a haircut seem like a fun day out!

Although it will be catering to adults too, a brand new salon opening at 93 Fore Street, Upper Edmonton, will offer the little darlings a dedicated area where they can get pampered as much as their mummies and daddies.

Pamper Me will have a TV and video to keep them quiet and themed rooms decorated with Disney characters. The prices are very good as well the plan is to charge kids whatever their age is. So if theyre three years old, a haircut could cost as little as 3.

The salon is due to open on Saturday 5th April with an appearance by Tottenhams own David Lammy MP and hopefully even his squeeze, the lively and lovely June Sarpong.

The opening will be the culmination of two long years hunting for their dream shop by Rahma Bakali, 36, of Swiss Cottage, Claudette Brown, 42, of Enfield and Cherrine Wheakly, 41, of Tottenham.

The women hope that whilst parents are receiving a treatment, their children will indulge in a bit of pampering as well. They also hope to offer a crche facility.

Most barber shops donè“’t cater for small children because they dont look friendly and children often resent getting their hair cut says Rahma.

Former College of North East London beauty therapy student Cherrine got together with friends Claudette and Rahma, both former University of North London students, to establish a hair and beauty salon with wide ranging appeal.

Were also hoping that some freelance hairdressers or beauty therapists may want to come and work from our salon explains Rahma

As a qualified teacher, Cherrine is hoping to develop a scheme through CONEL, that provides work placements at Pamper Me for the Style Zone students, who can gain practical experience whilst working towards their own NVQ qualifications.

But its the targeted appeal to children that will make Pamper Me stand out from the rest. The women say that kids will even take away goodie bags after their treatments. Thatll definitely have them coming back for more!
