College first for Travel and Tourism
The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London was honoured at an Institute of Travel and Tourism (ITT) presentation last Thursday (29 September). The award recognises that the College is first in the country to achieve the coveted Business Excellence in Education (BEE) endorsement.
Previously, an award held only by universities the ITT is reaching out to colleges to ensure they achieve the same levels of excellence in professionalism, links with industry and customer service for the Travel and Tourism industry.
The endorsement means that the College will now be able to offer many unique and exciting development opportunities for its learners which will enhance their prospects of going to university and of getting the best Travel and Tourism career opportunities.
Head of School for Business and Tourism, Darren Leftwich said: "The Institute of Travel and Tourism Endorsement Scheme is a model of excellence which ensures the standard of travel and tourism teaching we offer meets industry needs and standards and also offers progression routes to university and to work for our students. I am thrilled that our College is the first in the country to achieve this accreditation which is wonderful recognition for the commitment and hard work put in by our staff and students."
Stephen Freudman, ITT Chairman, said of the award: “We are delighted to be able to offer additional opportunities to the College’s students and we are confident that the quality of its travel and tourism courses is exceptional.”
The College's BEE-ITT endorsement was officially announced close to Buckingham Palace at the headquarters for DP World (Dubai Ports Worldwide).
