College student to be Lifeguard at the London 2012 Olympics Games
The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London was delighted to congratulate student Bhaveet Shah this week on being picked to work at the London 2012 Games.
Officially known as an Aquatics Field of Play (FOP) Member, Bhaveet will be working as a Lifeguard during the three week international sporting event which takes place in the summer (27 July – 12 August).
An outstanding student, Bhaveet is working towards achieving his IT and Computing qualification and he then hopes to go to university. A strong contributor to College life as a Student Ambassador and mentor, Bhaveet is also a volunteer lifeguard for British Gas Great Swim Series which is an open water series that takes place across the country, such as London, Ipswich, Salford Quays, Windermere, Scotland – no less. Bhaveet won Young Lifesaver of the Year 2010 and he is also a Volunteer Lifeguard instructor for Enfield School Of Lifesaving.
A strong long distance swimmer, Bhaveet loves sport and his university choice will be based on the finding the right course with the best sports facilities. He said of his chance to work at the London 2012 Games: “It’s fantastic. I follow swimming closely and it’s so brilliant to be working for the sport and at the same time to be able to get to see all the events for free.”
