The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London will be hosting celebrations for International Women’s Day on Saturday 10 March on behalf of Haringey Council and Haringey Women’s Forum.
Now in its ninth year, the celebration brings together women from across Haringey from all walks of life to celebrate achievement, health and wellbeing. CONEL hosts the event on behalf of Haringey Council and Haringey Women’s Forum.
As well as workshops, activities and an Information Fair about local groups and services, the afternoon is rounded off with the annual Unsung Women Awards, in recognition of the fantastic contribution made by women of the borough to the local community.
Visitors can celebrate the day in style and try new skills with a range of activities from arts and crafts, dance and Tai Chi to construction and counselling. Health experts are also on hand offering general health and diabetes checks.
For a spot of well-earned pampering, the college’s Style Zone will be open for free manicures, makeovers, washes and blow-dries. A crèche is available for those with young children.
Cllr Bernice Vanier, Cabinet Member for Communities at Haringey Council, said: “I’m very pleased these inspiring women have been recognised officially for the contribution that they have made to life in the borough in so many different ways. They provide great motivation to us all.”
Vice Principal, Jane O’Neill, said: “We are always pleased to host this event for Haringey Council and Women’s Forum every year to bring together women from the community and celebrate their achievements.”
