College gets creative with new nails course
The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London has introduced new courses to learn the intricate skills of nail art, which could lead to jobs in this fast growing industry.
Budding nail technicians can enrol on Level 1, Level 2 and Level 3 courses while places are still available.
On qualifying nail technicians can expect to earn £20-25K per annum and self-employed technicians can earn up to £25 per hour.
Students who enrol on the College’s courses will learn the latest techniques, including gel application, foil wraps and 3D nail art. Based at the College’s Tottenham Centre, courses are free to 16-19 year olds and there are many concessions for those on benefits.
Thi Le enrolled at the College just over two years ago after starting at Entry Level. She quickly progressed, recently completing her Level 2 and now aims to take her skills abroad where she will teach others the skills of nail art. She said: “While at the College I perfected my skills. It is something I love to do so it was a great opportunity. Once I’d finished I even went back to assist in classes.”
The college also supports apprenticeships in all areas of the Hair and Beauty Industry including Nail Technology. Jane O’Neill, Vice Principal Curriculum and Learner Experience, said: “This course is a prime example of how gaining skills can lead to a prosperous and rewarding career.”
Enrolment runs until Friday 28 September, however potential students are advised to come in as soon as possible as places are filling up fast. For more information and details about enrolment times, visit: www.conel.ac.uk/nails
