The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London proudly threw its support behind Youth Film Day 2010 at the Cineworld Wood Green Cinemas recently.
Youth Film Day (March 27) was part of the Wood Green International Short Film Festival and gave budding young filmmakers (aged 13 to 21) the chance to share their work to a larger audience, get feedback from industry experts and win fantastic prizes.
The College sponsored the “Dare to Dream” category, which was open to narrative based films that were later put to an audience vote.
Joel Wynn, the College’s Curriculum Manager in Creative Studies, presented the winner Nathan Bartholomew with an award and a cheque for £150.
Mr Wynn said: “It was a great event that allowed young filmmakers to shine. I’d like to congratulate everyone who submitted films and also recognise Nathan’s efforts on a job well done.
“It’s important for the College to get onboard with local events such as Youth Film Day. While we do offer a range of courses in arts and media, it’s also important to get out there and support young people who are involved in a similar field.”
Nathan said he was very happy to receive first place in the category.
“Winning best youth film showed me I had capabilities that I had not yet realised. Plus, when I push myself I can create films that can affect and touch my audience. It was brilliant to get that prize!”
Nathan said his film titled “OutLook” was created with the help of the FastForward and PowerPlay team.
“It’s a film that tells the story about how every action has a reaction,” he said.
Industry experts including London-based directors Kolton Lee (Freestyle) and Mo Ali (Shank) were also in attendance and offered advice to the talented young filmmakers.
