The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London

London’s College for Skills

The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London has made a 30-second cinema advert to promote its Summer Enrolment to keen film fans.  The advertisement, which stars students from the College and with a sound track created by its music technology students, is being screened throughout August and early September in every advertising reel of each of the summer’s classic blockbusters at both Enfield Cineworld and Wood Green Cineworld. If Guardians of the Galaxy and The Inbetweeners Movie 2 are your cup of tea to name but a few, get on down and look out for an uplifting advert featuring local students on the big screen!

The film, titled “We have a future” was partly devised by the College’s students and gets across three main themes. The College has recently achieved a fantastic Ofsted result; that it’s London’s Number One performing College and that by enrolling at the College each student can be confident that they will have a great future career.

The film opens with Business Management learner Effort Takaedza  at Enfield Centre, announcing “I have a future”.  He said: “I enjoyed my first acting job – and it was good to learn more about how movies are planned and what goes on behind the camera.” The film then shows students at work in many of the College’s vocational skills-based study areas and concludes with Media Studies learner Abbi Liddell at Tottenham Centre, similarly claiming: “I have a future.”

Partly influenced by a flash mob but without the dancing, Abbi said of her involvement: “I would like to work in journalism for the future so I jumped at the chance to take part in the film.  A lot of us began to discuss it and pool our ideas to see how we could get a really strong message across about the College in 30 seconds. I’m pleased with the result.”

The College has also made another short film for Enrolment this year to support its Social Media campaign, which you can view on its Facebook page, called #Enrolyourselfie.  If you snap a selfie and send it to the College at #Enrolyourselfie, you will be entered into a prize draw to win cinema tickets.

The #Enrolyourselfie film shows College students and staff having fun taking selfies, and the music playing was also created by our Music Technology learners.

Jane O’Neill Interim College Principal and Chief Executive said: “It’s really important to involve our students in promoting the College. That way everyone can share in the successes and achievements. The best endorsement that the College can receive comes from the students themselves who are learning here.”

Enrolment starts on 21 August. For details about Summer Enrolment and #Enrolyourselfie  visit: www.conel.ac.uk
