Lessons from Zuzana for teaching success
Zuzana Tilson began her teaching career at the College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London (CONEL) in 2012. Within two years she had completed courses in
Preparing to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (PTTLS) which is a Level 3 qualification, the Certificate to Teach in the Lifelong Learning (CTTLS) which is a Level 4 and the Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Sector (DTTLS), which is a Level 5 qualification.
Alongside the Diploma, Zuzana completed the Additional Diploma to Teach in the Lifelong Learning Centre (ADETTLS) which is also a Level 5 qualification and the
Level 3 Award in Mathematics for Numeracy teaching.
At the end of her impressive studies Zuzana was not only snapped up as an hourly paid lecturer, teaching Entry and Level 1 ESOL students with CONEL – but also awarded a College Excellence Award for her exceptional achievements.
Zuzana said of her time at the College: “What inspired me most were my astonishing tutors. Pouri Mashoof taught me so much about dyslexia and I even completed an online course in dyslexia which I discovered as a result of working with her. Sue Ives-Moiba taught me to look at language from many different aspects and Maz Shahsafdari was a genius at teaching maths. Finally, I must mention Oya Karabetca who I could observe applying different methods of teaching and learning excellently within the classroom.. I’m now considering returning to CONEL to complete a Specialist Diploma in Teaching Disabled Learners at Level 5.”
Married with two young children Zuzana is currently working at a College neighbouring CONEL with ESOL students.
