The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London welcomed hundreds of visitors to the Enfield Centre Open Day last Saturday resulting in over a hundred people leaving with offers for September. The open day, which was packed with activities including outdoor zumba sessions, gave visitors the opportunity to speak to tutors and get advice on suitable courses.
Those who choose to apply went on to have an assessment, which measures English and maths ability, and were subsequently offered a place on an appropriate course.
School leaver, Scarlett, who dreams of a career in the media, took part in the creative workshop and spoke to staff from the School of Creative and Media about her options.
After explaining that she had completed her Media GCSE at school, and expressing her passion for a career behind the camera, Scarlett was offered a place on the Level 3 Media course, which runs for two years and will allow Scarlett to progress onto university.
Delighted with the offer, Scarlett said: "I love it here already and I just can't wait to start. It looks like a great place to study and the tutors seem supportive and nice so I think I'm going to be really happy here."
Also offered a place was full time childminder, Tayo, who was keen to complete her NVQ Level, and 16 year old Amber who will be starting her Childcare Level 2 in September.
Jane O'Neill, Vice Principal for Curriculum and Learner Experience, said: "We're very happy to offer so many places for courses starting this September. The College is a great place to study and our teachers are very supportive, so I'm confident they will enjoy their experience with us."
The Enfield open day was the last one before enrolment begins later this year. Those who have not applied or attended an interview before the end of July, can come along to open enrolment from Friday 23 August where places will be offered on a first come, first served basis, subject to meeting the required criteria.
