Early Years Class raises money for Great Ormond Street Hospital
College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London Health and Social Care Level 3 learners have raised the amazing sum of £357.90 for Great Ormond Street Hospital! In this student-led project two classes grouped together to hold a charity drive selling unwanted Christmas gifts.
The charity is particularly important to the class as Wendy Whitelaw, Health and Social Care teacher explains: “We’re working in early years, there’s lots of children in Great Ormond Street Hospital that we might one day look after. We understand that the children and parents need support, and it is part of our course to make a positive contribution to early years development.”
Wendy plans for the charity drive to become a termly fixture for Level 3 students, and will become a feature within March’s Volunteer Week 2014.
To celebrate the success of their efforts, the students held a Christmas party on Wednesday (18 December) and a prize-giving ceremony to award those with outstanding attendance and punctuality.
Interim Principal and Chief Executive, Jane O’Neill said: “It’s important to reward the students, events like this allows the learners to think about others and have fun at the same time.”
