The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London announced today (Tuesday 26 April) that WimX is to become its new Racket Sports Academy partner, starting from August 2014.
WimX, based at The Connaught Club in Chingford, has a well-deserved reputation for excellence in the fields of tennis coaching, education and community projects. The WimX founders were all highly successful on the professional circuit winning around 99 professional titles between them. The Connaught Club also has a track record in developing world class squash players. The Racket Sports Academy will provide quality provision for squash, racket ball, and tennis.
WimX Racket Sports Academy learners will be able to choose from any of the full time courses on offer at the College’s Enfield Centre. So, from Business to Science or Public Services to Computing, applicants can combine their love of racket sports with training for employment in a career that interests them.
Kurt Hintz, Director for Sport explained: “This is a very exciting move for the College. WimX’s commitment to the provision of combining quality of coaching with education is second to none. The Racket Sports Academy is close to our College enabling us to offer huge benefits to our players.”
Based at the College’s Enfield Centre, the new partnership offers Racket Sports Academy players a free training kit, a tracksuit and a kit bag. Players also receive professional coaching for a minimum of 6 hours a week and opportunities to compete at all levels to gain and improve their ratings. There are work experience opportunities too at WimX, as well as a pathway to gain qualifications in coaching.
Helen Crook, WimX Director said: “This is a perfect addition to our education and tennis pathway. This programme will help those learners that want to go on to a University of East London degree programme and those who just want to play more of their favourite sport!”
College Interim Principal and Chief Executive, Jane O’Neill said: “The College is investing over £1.5million in a fully modernised and refurbished Sports Hall, which will open in September 2014 making the College the provider of choice for all aspiring Sports learners.”
