Student Ambassadors and Staff (L-R) Benson Osejindu, Rosheen Salmon, Anthony Robinson (S), Veronica Asare, Jane O'Neill (Interim Principal and Chief Executive) Borry Jargu, Joanne Bantin (S) and Abdikarim Sheek.

The College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London held an awards event on Friday 20 June for its team of Student Ambassadors to celebrate all of their hard work throughout the year.  The College gave all ambassadors vouchers, and awarded the top three ambassadors with an iPad Mini to reward their efforts. Congratulations Borry Jarju, Rosheen Salmon and Benson Osejindu who scooped the top prizes.

The Student Ambassadors team is made up of current learners from across all curriculum areas, and of all ages who volunteer as representatives of the College at external events.  Some of the events that the Ambassadors have worked on over the past year include Open Days, parents’ evenings, school visits, focus groups, the apprenticeships fair, employability events, the Skills for London careers fair and the College Excellence Awards.

The Ambassadors each hold their own Ambassador Passport which is signed off after each event, which not only notes their attendance but also the quality of their work on the day.  The winners of the iPads not only demonstrated incredible willing and dedication to the work by attending lots of events, but also their helpfulness and efforts on the day stood them apart.

Jane O’Neill, Interim Principal and Chief Executive who presented the awards said: “The Ambassadors are a crucial part of the fabric of the College. They are excellent role models, whose willingness to help is highly impressive.  This year’s group has been incredibly dedicated and I am very pleased to be able to thank them personally for all of their hard work this year.”

Being an ambassador is great way to boost your CV and impress future employers. And as a volunteer for the College, you are eligible for an additional reference to send out to employers.  The College goes on a recruitment drive at the beginning of every academic year and is always looking for enthusiastic helpful college students to get involved.

If you’re a current student and you are returning next year, and you’d like to join the Student Ambassador team – fill out an application form here.
