College of Haringey, Enfield and North East London’s Access to Science student, Donna Mannaperuma has just graduated with First Class Honours from London Metropolitan University. Donna embarked on her Bachelor of Science degree three years ago and will attend her graduation ceremony at the Barbican Centre this July.
After searching extensively for the perfect course, Donna enrolled onto the College’s Access to Higher Education Science Diploma. The options available not only improved her understanding of scientific theory but also gave her the opportunity to learn good laboratory skills through practical experiments. As well as practising her study and research skills, Donna was also able to develop her English, maths and ICT capabilities to successfully meet the demands of her bioscience degree. Donna was an exceptional student at College from the outset and gained Distinctions in all of her Access to Science modules.
The College’s Access qualification is widely recognised by many universities as ideal preparation for degree study. Particularly impressed with their modern and well equipped bioscience laboratory, Donna chose London Metropolitan to complete her undergraduate degree.
Donna said: “The College’s Access course was so helpful for me. It prepared me for degree study and it is well respected so I got offers from very good universities. My Access course gave me the skills and confidence I needed to succeed at university.”
Jane O’Neill, Interim College Principal and Chief Executive said: “I wholeheartedly congratulate Donna for her very impressive achievements. Our science courses are exceptional and I am determined that we will become the college of first choice for science subjects in Haringey and Enfield.”
