Donna is an exceptionally motivated and committed student who, despite a full time job and busy family life, has never failed to provide excellent research and evaluation skills and put these to good use in achieving either a Merit or Distinction grade in all assignments. She is incredibly enthusiastic about education. She is a great ambassador for her own personal learning and for the College as an inclusive educational provider. Her tutor says: "Donna is an exceptionally talented and committed learner who has shown that disability is no bar to a career in health care."
After graduating from Conel, Donna left to go to the University of West London. Donna achievements are all the more amazing as she is profoundly deaf. Donna writes about her first year at university below:
"I have successfully completed my first year and what an awesome time I have had! I really am enjoying it at the University of West London. I just carried on with what I have learned at CONEL, but what I have achieved so far has surpassed all my own expectations!
Recently, I was nominated by my course leader to be included in a student case study as part of marketing for clearing. Here is her comment: “Donna fulfils the criteria of both excellence, as a student and as an ambassador for Health Promotion and Public Health, particularly as the ethos of the course is to frequently work with disenfranchised and minority groups, in which Donna has a wealth of insight”.
It was an amazing end to my first year, now I am looking forward to my second year!"
