ABOUT THE COURSE

This part-time introduction certificate will give you the basic skills and knowledge you need to work with children, covering the development and care of children, providing play activities and health and safety.

You will develop your literacy skills with classes in English language, as well as gaining study skills that will help you progress onto a Level 2 qualification, which will qualify you to work with children in a school, nursery or preschool.

WHAT WILL I STUDY?

You will: -Supporting babies to play -Craft activites -Understanding learning and development through play -Science activites -Health and Safety -Healthy eating -Self development

WHAT WILL I NEED?

You will need:

  • Three GCSEs at grade 1 or above or a relevant Entry Level 3 qualification

All applicants must have an initial assessment and interview to confirm that the course is suitable for them.

HOW WILL I BE ASSESSED?

You will be assessed continually through practical project work, coursework, written assignments and presentations.

If you will be aged 19 or older on 31 August in the year you begin your course, and have been resident in the UK/EU/EEA for the past 3 years, your course will be FREE, regardless of your age or income. Some courses will have other costs associated, such as for materials and trips. WHAT CAN I DO AFTER?

On successful completion of this course, you could progress to a Level 2 course, an apprenticeship or other employment.
